The Neutrino range uses Pertex Quantum and Endurance fabrics to create lightweight mountaineering classics!

Pertex Endurance technology incorporates an ultra-thin membrane with a durable nylon face fabric. This layer is so thin that it hardly adds any weight, nor does it affect the softness of the material considerably.

Pertex Endurance fabrics have one main objective – to provide maximum protection from moisture. This works both ways:

• Keeps water, snow and wind out
• Allows moisture to pass freely from the inside – this keeps your bag dry from condensation.

Pertex Endurance technology incorporates an ultra thin, air permeable membrane that is both highly breathable and water and wind resistant. This layer protects the insulation material from the elements to maintain loft and retain warmth.

Is it Waterproof?

Pertex Endurance is not classified as waterproof. It achieves a water column of > 1000mm, however it depends on the application if the final product is claimed as waterproof. Products with taped seams can be claimed as waterproof, products with open seams are not.

Increases Thermal Efficiency

The thermal efficiency of down and synthetic insulation reduces significantly when exposed to moisture. Pertex Endurance keeps moisture out over extended periods ensuring the  filling is totally dry and fully efficient.

Compared to other shell fabrics, Pertex Endurance is 100% windproof. This property increases the thermal efficiency of a sleeping bag or garment – warm air can’t escape, it remains trapped inside the bag. Pertex Endurance can increase the thermal efficiency of a sleeping bag by up 10°F/5°C.

Pertex Quantum is the lightest fabric we’ve ever made. It is a true featherweight at around d 30g/m² (0.9o/yd²). Pertex use the finest yarns available with the maximum thread count.

Pertex (and Rab) strongly believe that less weight shouldn’t mean ‘please be careful’. Pertex Quantum stands its ground and shows the best strength to weight ratio. Tear strength and seam strength are good for its weight and it can easily be used in shell jackets and withstands the abuse of hardcore use. The abrasion resistance however is not comparable with standard weight 44 decitex fabrics.

Thanks to its dense weave, Pertex Quantum is downproof and can be used for any high-end application in sleeping bags, down jackets and expedition gear. It is a gear freak’s dream.
