Vapour-rise

All softshells need to be kept in a good clean condition, and in the case of our Vapour-rise range even more so if it is being used as a part of your layering system or next to the skin. After all, you spend hard-earned money on your outdoor gear and you want it to last! Failure to keep your gear clean can result in reduced breathability and maybe even reduce its water repellency.

Most softshell items use a DWR (Durable Water Repellent) finish on their outer surface to make water 'bead' and roll off (like water off a duck's back). This finish will degrade through usage and regular washing, allowing garments to absorb moisture (wet out) into their outer fabric surface, making them feel cold and damp, and reducing breathability/ comfort of the garment in wet weather. Therefore, restoring the DWR treatment will make a big difference.By following the advice below and, by regularly washing/treating your Vapour-rise kit will ensure it performs every time and quite simply, last for years.

  • Do not dry clean.
  • Maximum washing temperature is 40°C
  • Remove any detergent build-up from the detergent dispenser.
  • All texturised Pertex® products should be turned inside out before washing to reduce pilling.
  • Do not use biological detergents, as they can shorten the lifespan of the proofing and affect colour. If worried that too much detergent or biological has been used, rinse thoroughly in clear water.
  • To wash, use only a liquid soap/soap flakes (soap flakes are best placed directly in the drum rather than the dispenser). Do not use a fabric conditioner (conditioners can leave a residue). Rinse well.

Care

Store uncompressed out of direct sunlight in a dry, cool place. If product gets damp, air thoroughly and/or tumble dryer on a ‘cool’ setting.

Cleaning

Carefully hand or machine wash with a soap solution, NOT DETERGENT. You may tumble dry your garment to rejuvenate the DWR finish
